Log Management

TimberSmart has several log inventory solutions ranging from those that record individual logs to those which record by the load. All systems are based on supply agreements and deliveries are recorded against these agreements. The TimberSmart log inventory systems enable the tracking of daily processes such as log receipts, rejects and mill usage information. Extensive inquiries and reporting are available as well as data exports to other reporting and analysis tools, Periodic processes such as quality sampling, stocktaking and supplier invoice generation can also be undertaken.

SawMilling

The sawmilling solution follows the flow of the timber through the mill. It begins with log inventory, flows through the primary cutting processes and ends in the production of sawn timber at the bin sorter or on the green table. The system then tracks and accumulates costs associated with the pack(et)s of timber as they pass through the subsequent processes such as treatment, kiln drying, and perhaps some form of planning (dressing). A fundamental differentiator of TimberSmart, compared to standard production systems, is the manner by which timber is tracked through processes which destroy the make-up of the ingoing pack(et). TimberSmart also enables timber available for sale to be identified and allocated to customers with relevant information including quantity, price, and timing. The system enables the despatcher to plan loads, advise carriers about loads, and prepare buyer generated invoices. Invoices are generated from within TimberSmart and can be printed, emailed, or sent by electronic transfer systems such as TimberXchange. The system has comprehensive querying and reporting capability.

Timber Processing

TimberSmart Processing enables management of all aspects of further processing operations – such as timber treatment, optimisation finger jointing/lamination, moulding production, and painting/priming. The TimberSmart Processing system commences with the creation of purchase orders to acquire the necessary feedstock, and receives incoming stock against those orders into the plant on its arrival. The timber is then managed through its various operations accumulating costs as it proceeds…

When available for sale and despatch, the TimberSmart system facilitates the despatching and load planning process. Invoicing using timber descriptors is carried out from within TimberSmart. All documents can be made available in hard copy or electronic format.

Timber Trading

Timber as a product is traded both nationally and internationally – importing and exporting. TimberSmart has solutions which cater for all of these trading activities including retail management. These solutions commence with the creation of sales orders as customers purchase stock. A variant to this is the sale of consignment stock. These orders can be met from inventory or the creation of purchase orders to acquire those products which are required to fulfil the sales order…

The TimberSmart timber trading system can send and receive all documents electronically or in hardcopy format. The system also allows for the processing of timber – particularly by third parties. Standard TimberSmart despatch, load management, and invoicing capabilities are included. The system also includes extensive reporting and on screen queries.
